Amicron Faktura is an ERP and invoicing package from the German vendor Amicron Software, aimed at small and mid-sized businesses. The Windows application covers quotes, orders, delivery notes, invoices, article and customer records and stock levels, and can be extended with bookkeeping, point-of-sale and web-shop connectors. Administrators typically look after the Firebird-based database server, the networked workstation installations and the interfaces to banking, shipping providers and electronic invoicing.

Several interim releases appear within a major version each year. A large share of them is driven by legislation: refreshed tax-filing and VAT forms, new SEPA revisions and adjustments for the German e-invoicing formats. Major version upgrades are paid, while ongoing releases are delivered to customers with a service contract through the in-application update function.

Back up the database before every update, because releases can carry schema changes. Bring all workstations to the same build afterwards, since mixed client versions against one database cause trouble. Add-on modules and interfaces need their own compatibility check, and the deadline-driven year-end releases should be scheduled deliberately.
