Archicad at a glance

Archicad is a building information modeling (BIM/CAD) application used by architecture and planning firms on Windows and macOS workstations. In organizational environments, administrators typically handle centralized distribution of installers, license management through protection keys or subscription portals, and integration with team server solutions for collaborative project work across multiple workstations.

The vendor regularly releases cumulative updates for each major version, containing bug fixes, stability improvements, and minor feature enhancements. Ahead of major annual releases, preview updates are also published for selected language versions, which are generally not intended for production use across all environments. Library and object packages are updated separately, which requires additional attention in team server deployments.

When applying updates, compatibility with companion components such as MEP Designer, BIMcloud, and installed add-ons should be verified, as these typically need to be updated in lockstep with the main application. Administrator privileges are required for installation, and active projects should be backed up beforehand to avoid migration issues with library versions.
