Barco ClickShare at a glance
Barco ClickShare is used in meeting rooms to connect laptops wirelessly to the room display, camera, microphone and speakers. In practice the system has two halves: base units in the room with their own firmware, and the ClickShare app or USB buttons on the user side. IT teams usually manage the units centrally through Barco's management console and distribute the desktop app through their own software deployment tooling.
Barco maintains a separate firmware line for each base unit family, published on its own support page, while the desktop app follows an independent cadence. New builds typically bring bug fixes, adjustments to operating system and conferencing service changes, and security updates for the embedded components.
When updating, check which app builds work with which firmware, because base unit and client have to match. Firmware updates reboot the base unit and should be scheduled outside meetings; older model ranges also reach end of support and then receive only limited updates.
