Communication Studio at a glance
Communication Studio is a standalone tool from Hilscher based on FDT. It is used for offline configuration, online commissioning and diagnostics of devices on common fieldbus and real-time Ethernet systems. Device-specific functions are added through DTMs that belong to the Hilscher Device Library.
Hilscher publishes new releases in its own knowledge base together with a version history. No machine-readable feed or fixed download address containing the version number is known, so the version history page has to be watched.
When updating, check whether existing project files are compatible with the new release, and make a copy of the projects first. The device descriptions in use and the firmware levels of the connected devices must match each other. This matters most in plants where several technicians work on the same projects with different software releases.
