GFI FaxMaker at a glance

GFI FaxMaker is a fax server solution that lets organizations send and receive faxes electronically. Users submit documents from their mail client, a web interface or directly from line-of-business applications, while the server handles delivery over analog lines, ISDN or Fax over IP (T.38). For administrators it centralizes the fax infrastructure, ties it into Exchange or SMTP and manages permissions through Active Directory.

Updates ship as periodic builds throughout the year and maintain components such as the Brooktrout driver, the Firebird database and support for modern authentication like OAuth. Security and compatibility fixes are delivered through the same build series.

Before updating, operators should verify the compatibility of fax hardware, drivers and the database, and back up configuration and queues. Because FaxMaker is tightly coupled with the mail server and telephony, testing in a separate environment is advisable before changes to the SIP or Exchange integration reach production.
