Governikus DATA Boreum at a glance
Governikus DATA Boreum is a cross-platform client application for the legally compliant creation and verification of electronic signatures and seals. It works with signature and seal cards, supports the corresponding ETSI and eIDAS formats and complements signing with validation as well as certificate-based encryption and decryption of data. It is used mainly by public authorities and companies that need to transmit documents confidentially and process them in a form-compliant way.
The vendor ships the application for Windows, macOS and Linux and maintains it through regular program updates that, besides bug fixes, also refresh card drivers, certificate lists and format profiles. Additional editions and integration variants are released alongside the base version.
When updating, administrators should check compatibility with the card-reader hardware and the signature cards in use, back up existing configurations and trust settings, and review the changed trust lists. Because the software is bound to legal requirements, testing in a controlled environment before a broad rollout is recommended.
