Immich is a fast-growing open-source, self-hosted photo and video backup solution — a privacy-friendly alternative to cloud photo services, popular for personal media. Immich ships frequent releases plus security fixes; as a system holding personal media and often reached from mobile devices, hardening and keeping it current matter.

For admins Immich moves very quickly and has explicitly warned it is under active development, so read the release notes before updating — breaking changes happen — and back up the database and media library first. Because it holds personal photos and is often accessed remotely, keep it behind a reverse proxy with TLS and strong authentication, and don't expose it carelessly. Updates run by swapping container images (it's a multi-container stack) that should stay in step. After updating, verify that uploads, the mobile app sync, and the library work.
