KingBill at a glance

KingBill is invoicing and billing software for small and medium-sized businesses, freelancers, and tradespeople in the German-speaking region. It covers everyday commercial tasks: quotes, order confirmations, invoices, delivery notes, and dunning letters are all produced from a shared customer and article database. Optional modules for point of sale, warehouse management, time tracking, and accountant export can be enabled as needed. The software is offered both as a locally installed desktop edition and as an online version.

The vendor maintains the program on a short release cadence, continuously publishing new builds that, besides features, mainly contain bug fixes and adjustments to changed tax requirements. Version numbers follow a three-part scheme, and a public version history lists every release together with its changes. The online infrastructure is updated centrally, whereas the desktop edition has to be updated manually.

When updating the desktop installation, administrators should create a backup beforehand, since updates can alter the database schema. Before applying an update, check that add-on modules, print templates, and the database environment in use are compatible with the new build, and in multi-user setups roll the update out to a single workstation first.
