MailStore Client at a glance
MailStore Client is the Windows application users and administrators use to work with a MailStore Server email archive: searching, viewing and exporting messages and, with the right permissions, managing archiving profiles, jobs and users. In environments with retention obligations it is the usual way to reach the archive independently of the mail client.
The client is kept in lockstep with the server: the vendor publishes major and interim builds together for Server, Client, Outlook add-in, Gateway and the Service Provider Edition, with maintenance builds carrying bug fixes in between. New builds are announced through the vendor blog and the changelogs.
Order matters when updating: the server first, then the workstations. If the client version diverges from the server version, connecting can fail, which makes a planned rollout through software distribution worthwhile. The Outlook add-in follows the same version line and should be updated alongside it, and a verified backup of the archive and its configuration belongs in every update plan.
