MEDICAL OFFICE at a glance
MEDICAL OFFICE is a practice management system by INDAMED GmbH of Schwerin, aimed at office-based physicians, group practices, medical care centres and hospital outpatient clinics. The system bundles billing, treatment documentation, appointment scheduling and the telematics infrastructure — including the electronic patient record, e-prescription, electronic incapacity certificate and KIM messaging — modularly in a single application.
As is typical for practice software, the update cadence follows the billing quarter: at each quarter change the vendor ships mandatory updates that implement changed billing rules from the statutory physicians' associations and new telematics-infrastructure requirements. Maintenance releases appear in between.
When updating, it matters to install the quarterly updates in good time before billing deadlines and to check compatibility with the connector, card terminals and connected specialty modules. A backup before the update is mandatory. Distribution and release run through the vendor; a public, machine-readable version channel is not available.
