Placetel Softphone Plus at a glance
Placetel Softphone Plus is a Windows desktop application that turns a workstation into a phone on the Placetel cloud PBX. Contacts, call history and colleague presence come from the PBX, calls can be transferred by drag and drop, and in CTI mode the software controls an existing desk phone. In Placetel environments it is the alternative or complement to hardware phones and to the bundled Webex client.
The software is not developed in a public repository; it is licensed per user through the Placetel customer account and delivered as a Windows installer. New builds appear on an irregular cadence and are documented in a vendor changelog, and the application can also check for updates itself.
When updating, keep in mind that softphone and PBX have to match, and that changes to audio codecs, headset support or CTI coupling are felt immediately at the desk. Pilot each build with a small group, fix a single source for the installer, and re-check microphone and firewall permissions afterwards.
