Poly Lens Desktop is the workstation application of the HP Poly Lens platform. It detects connected Poly headsets, speakerphones, webcams and video bars, exposes their settings to the user, and reports inventory, firmware and usage data to the Lens portal when the device is enrolled there. For IT departments it is the route to see audio and video devices in inventory and to push firmware levels and policies centrally.

The vendor ships the desktop application separately from the cloud console: the portal is updated server-side and carries no version number administrators need to track, while the installable application uses a four-part number of major, minor, maintenance level and build.

When updating, keep in mind that the application and device firmware belong together — new firmware is often delivered only through a matching application version or the portal. In managed environments the built-in self-update should be deliberately enabled or disabled so that software distribution and the application do not work against each other. Under the HP brand the product is gradually moving to Studio Desktop naming, while the package identifier stays unchanged for now.
