Seatsurfing

Seatsurfing at a glance

Seatsurfing is an open-source platform for booking workspaces, desks and meeting rooms that can be operated in your own data centre. It targets organisations with hybrid working models, where fixed seat assignments are replaced by flexible reservations. Employees select available resources through a booking interface, while an administration area manages locations, areas and user groups.

Technically the application consists of a backend service, the web interfaces for booking and administration, and a database, and it is usually deployed as a container. Connections to existing directory services and calendars ease integration into established environments.

For IT administrators, the maintenance status is important: new editions add further features, bug fixes and security corrections. Anyone self-hosting Seatsurfing and exposing the interface externally should track releases in order to keep the application current and secure.
