The Slack desktop client is the app for the widely used team-messaging platform, on many corporate machines. Slack ships frequent client updates; the app auto-updates, and managed fleets can deploy it through software distribution.

For admins the client is a user-space app that auto-updates, so it usually stays current with little effort — but on locked-down or rarely-used machines, confirm updates actually apply, since an outdated Electron-based client can carry known vulnerabilities. Keep a minimum version where you can enforce it. The larger security surface is the workspace configuration (SSO, session policies, app/integration approvals, data retention) rather than the client binary. New versions bring features and fixes.
