VMware ESXi at a glance
VMware ESXi is the bare-metal hypervisor at the heart of many enterprise virtualization stacks. Broadcom/VMware ships patch releases and update bundles per version; as the foundation running many production VMs, ESXi security advisories deserve prompt attention — several have been actively exploited.
For admins updates run host-by-host: enter maintenance mode, migrate VMs off with vMotion, patch, verify, move on. Use the version/build compatibility matrix (ESXi, vCenter, VM hardware, drivers) and apply patches through vCenter Lifecycle Manager where possible. The management interfaces belong on an isolated network, never exposed.
