welcome-soft is a digital signage application from a German vendor, primarily used for reception, information and welcome screens in companies, clinics and educational institutions. System administrators use it to centrally manage content such as texts, images, videos, PDFs and room-booking schedules, and to display them on remote screens according to a schedule. The application runs locally on a Windows machine without a mandatory cloud connection; an internet connection is only needed for optional updates or remote maintenance.

The vendor releases new versions at irregular intervals with feature enhancements, documented via a version history and changelogs on the vendor's website. Updates are typically downloaded and installed manually; customers with an optional maintenance agreement receive automatic software updates and support.

When updating, administrators should check the validity of their support/license period before installing a new version, since older licenses without a maintenance agreement may not be entitled to the latest release. Before larger version jumps, it is advisable to review migration notes, especially regarding database migrations (e.g. SQL), and to back up the existing installation and configuration data beforehand.
