Windows 11 is Microsoft's current desktop OS, serviced through monthly cumulative updates on Patch Tuesday plus annual feature updates. Each release has a defined support window, and staying on a serviced build is essential — unpatched Windows is the most-scanned attack surface there is.

For admins the work is patch management and lifecycle planning: cumulative updates roll out via Windows Update for Business, WSUS or your MDM, ideally ring-based (pilot, then broad). Feature updates are larger and warrant testing of drivers and line-of-business apps. Watch the hardware requirements (TPM 2.0, supported CPUs) and the end-of-servicing dates per version. Defer feature updates deliberately, but never let security updates slip.
