Windows Server at a glance
Windows Server is Microsoft's server platform, behind Active Directory, file services, Hyper-V and countless business applications. It's serviced with monthly cumulative updates plus the occasional out-of-band fix; each version (LTSC) carries a long, clearly defined support lifecycle.
For admins the priorities are timely patching and lifecycle planning: cumulative updates go out via WSUS/Windows Update for Business, staged across rings, with domain controllers and clustered roles handled carefully. Test updates against critical roles before the broad rollout. Server Core reduces the patch surface where a GUI isn't needed. Keep the end-of-support dates per version in your calendar — after that, gaps stay open unless you buy extended security updates.
