DBeaver at a glance

DBeaver is a widely used open-source universal database client, connecting to almost any database from a single desktop tool — a staple for admins and developers. DBeaver ships frequent releases across Community and Enterprise editions plus fixes to its many bundled drivers.

For admins the attention point is stored connection credentials: DBeaver saves connection profiles and passwords, so protect them with the master password and, where possible, use secured or key-based authentication. Keep it current for driver updates and fixes, and source it officially. New versions bring editor, driver and database-support improvements. Because it connects directly to production databases, be deliberate about which environments a given install can reach and apply least-privilege database accounts. Export and back up connection settings. In managed environments, keep it in the software inventory and patch cycle; patchletter surfaces new DBeaver releases.
