Nothing OS at a glance

Nothing OS is the in-house Android variant from manufacturer Nothing and runs exclusively on its own smartphones as well as devices of the sister brand CMF. The interface stays close to stock Android, adding a distinctive design with a dot-matrix typeface and the Glyph interface while largely avoiding pre-installed extra apps. In day-to-day administration it typically appears as a consumer device in BYOD settings.

As an Android derivative, Nothing OS follows Android's basic update logic: larger releases with new features arrive roughly once a year, with security patches and bug fixes in between. Nothing controls distribution and availability itself and rolls it out in stages per model, so not all devices update at the same time.

Before updating, a backup, sufficient battery, and a stable Wi-Fi connection are advisable. Mind each model's committed update window, since support duration and the number of Android version jumps are limited per device; after major releases, review changed default apps and settings.
