FORMCYCLE at a glance

FORMCYCLE is a form management system from XIMA MEDIA GmbH for web forms and the processes behind them. Forms are built graphically, given validation rules, inboxes and workflows, and connected to specialist applications, mailboxes or interfaces. It is used mainly by public administration, universities and companies in German-speaking countries, usually self-hosted as a Java application in the operator's own data centre.

Maintenance arrives as minor releases within a major branch; the vendor's release notes list each build individually. New major versions come with their own upgrade paths, for which the vendor publishes separate instructions.

Before updating, back up the database, the form inventory and the server configuration, then confirm that the application server and Java runtime are on supported levels. Because FORMCYCLE receives personal data and is often reachable from the internet, schedule updates promptly and include any upstream delivery component. Afterwards, run a test submission through a production form including delivery and workflow.
